Indiana Botanic Gardens Celebrates 99 Years of Keeping America Healthy with Natural Herbal Remedies

Hobart, IN December 28, 2008 -- Founded in 1910 in a small cottage in the rear of Joseph Meyer's home in Hammond, Indiana, IBG began as a small independent supplier of hard-to-find medicinal herbs. Today, its Botanic Choice line has become the premium brand of condition-specific nutritional supplements. In the beginning, the business barely made living expenses for the family. The 1918 publication of the 400-page book, The Herbalist, enabled the business to expand from the small cottage to a beautiful English gabled building off Calumet Avenue. With great grandson, Tim Cleland serving as president, in 1990 the business moved to its Hobart location and has since expanded five fold.
